Parish Councillors are the volunteers who keep the most immediate part of local government running in your community.

Although 'parish' is in our name, modern parish councils no longer have any direct links with the church - the word simply describes a geographic area.

Hadnall Parish Council looks after play areas, grounds maintenance, lighting, benches, and some land, as well as forming a vital liaison between residents, larger landowners, the principal council, and other contractors. The Parish Council is also a statutory consultee on all local planning applications.

The monies handled by the Parish Council come from a small part of your Council Tax (called the parish precept) and from grants and other funding streams, including Neighbourhood Fund payments linked to new building.

Parish Councillors come from all walks of life. There are a couple of legal requirements (see poster), but other than that the only necessary qualification is a desire to support and represent your community.

Hadnall Parish Council is in desperate need for two new parish councillors. We have one councillor on long-term absence, which is leaving us with a very small council and runs the risk of meetings being inquorate and decisions left unmade. The commitment is to attend the parish council meetings held once every two months, and to do your best to attend any urgent meetings called in between. (These don't happen often - usually linked to big planning applications.) Any commitment beyond that is at the individual councillor's discretion.

We have received the following information about the closure of the main road later this month:

I am writing to let you know that we are planning to carry out Resurfacing work in your local area.

Where is the work?

We will be undertaking this work with a road closure of Shrewsbury Road, Hadnall. See map below. Please note access/egress for properties within the closure will be maintained when safe to do so.

When will this work take place?

This work will take place from Monday 26th January to Friday 30th January during the hours of 9:30am to 4pm.

Please note that all our planned roadworks are subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. Any changes will be displayed on the yellow advanced warning signs and on https://one.network/

How will this affect traffic?

Signs will be erected in the road before starting the work and the work will be completed as quickly as possible. A signed diversion route will be in place as per map below.

Will there be access to my property/business?

Yes, if you are looking to access a property or business within the closure, we will provide access for you. We will have staff on site who are able to assist with access. Our priority is to keep you

and our staff safe, this means that there may be a bit of a wait while we make the site safe for you to travel through the closure or direct you to another entry point.

During the work, access to the works area will be restricted to:

• Local residents who live and reside within the road closure

• Businesses located within the closure (if applicable)

• Pedestrians, dismounted cyclists and equestrians

• Emergency vehicles

How can you help us?

It would be appreciated if you could ensure vehicles are not parked on the road during the day whilst the work is in progress. Please be mindful that we can only provide access for properties/businesses within the work area. Should this cause any problems or concerns then please do not hesitate to call the number below or alternatively speak to our team on site to allow arrangements to be put in place.
