2nd December 2025

We have been informed today (2 December) that the application to build 44 dwellings on land south of Wedgefields (Ref 24/04834/FUL) is to go to Shropshire Council Planning Committee for a decision, with the recommendation to approve. The Planning Committee meeting will be on Tuesday 9 December at 2pm at the Guildhall, Frankwell, Shrewsbury.

The agenda for the meeting contains the following item: "Public Question Time To receive any public questions or petitions from the public, notice of which has been given in accordance with Procedure Rule 14.  The deadline for this meeting is 5.00 p.m. on Wednesday 3rd December 2025." (It is not clear how to submit, but the Committee Officer who is the point of contact for the meeting is Emily Marshall.)

The Parish Council is planning its own representation at the meeting.

The agenda is available here: https://shropshire.gov.uk/committee-services/ieListDocuments.aspx?MId=5196&x=1

Following the resignation of Cllr Laura Tarburton, there is now a second vacancy on the Parish Council.
The attached notice must be displayed for 14 days. If no election is requested, the Parish Council can proceed to co-option.
Anyone interested in joining the council is very welcome to contact the Clerk or any of the existing councillors for more information. Any applications for co-option would be considered at our next meeting in January.

31st October 2025

The Parish Council was successful in obtaining some free signs from Shropshire Council to remind dog-walkers of their obligation to clear up after their dogs.

Our thanks to Cllr Steve Downing for getting these put up around the village.

There are still a couple left, if anyone has a particular location where you feel they might help.

23rd October 2025

The Parish Council has arranged for maintenance work to be carried out in the village by Community Payback workers.

The work will involve redressing the footpaths by the Moat and behind the church, and also maintenance work on wooden benches around the church layby and Village Green.

Because of the schedules of the workforce, these tasks will be carried out over the course of several Mondays. In the mean time, there will be stacks of gravel in place (on pallets) but not blocking the paths.

There will also be maintenance work being carried out on various trees around the village, and the completion of the fence replacement at The Ease.

Thank you for your patience while this work is done and we hope it will improve the centre of the village.
