14th April 2026

Planned roadworks:

The C2077 from A528 Jct to Shrewsbury District Boundary, Hadnall is programmed for Surface Dressing between Tuesday 28th April to Wednesday 20th May during the hours of 7am to 5pm.

The work is currently programmed to take place as follows: -

28th – 29th April – Road Closure for Surface Dressing
19th – 20th May – Road Closure for White Lining

The road will have an initial sweep within 24 hours of the new surface being laid. The sweeper returns after 7 days to remove any residual loose chippings.

How will this affect traffic?
Signs will be erected in the road before starting the work and the work will be completed as quickly as possible. A signed diversion route will be in place as per map below.

Will there be access to my property/business?
Yes, if you are looking to access a property or business, we will provide access for you.

We will have staff on site who are able to assist with access. Our priority is to keep you and our staff safe, this means that there may be a bit of a wait while we make the site safe for you to travel through the closure or direct you to another entry point.

During the work, access to the works area will be restricted to:
· Residents who live and reside within the road closure.
· Businesses located within the closure (if applicable)
· Emergency vehicles

How can you help us?
Please ensure vehicles are not parked on the road during the day whilst the work is in progress. Please be mindful that we can only provide access for properties/businesses within the work area.

4th March 2026

As you may have seen, we were expecting a representative from Severn Trent to attend our meeting on Monday 9 March. As you will see from the attached document, that is no longer the case. Instead they have provided a report of current progress and next steps. They propose to attend the May meeting (Monday 18 May 7pm at Astley Village Hall).

The report shows that proposed completion dates for the infrastructure improvements are already being pushed back. The parish council is in communication with the Shropshire Council Planning Officer to discover how this will affect the proposed Grampian Condition which was to be applied to the Cameron Homes development at Wedgefields (24/04834/FUL). The planning permission for that development has not yet been published.

Parish Councillors are the volunteers who keep the most immediate part of local government running in your community.

Although 'parish' is in our name, modern parish councils no longer have any direct links with the church - the word simply describes a geographic area.

Hadnall Parish Council looks after play areas, grounds maintenance, lighting, benches, and some land, as well as forming a vital liaison between residents, larger landowners, the principal council, and other contractors. The Parish Council is also a statutory consultee on all local planning applications.

The monies handled by the Parish Council come from a small part of your Council Tax (called the parish precept) and from grants and other funding streams, including Neighbourhood Fund payments linked to new building.

Parish Councillors come from all walks of life. There are a couple of legal requirements (see poster), but other than that the only necessary qualification is a desire to support and represent your community.

Hadnall Parish Council is in desperate need for two new parish councillors. We have one councillor on long-term absence, which is leaving us with a very small council and runs the risk of meetings being inquorate and decisions left unmade. The commitment is to attend the parish council meetings held once every two months, and to do your best to attend any urgent meetings called in between. (These don't happen often - usually linked to big planning applications.) Any commitment beyond that is at the individual councillor's discretion.
