Community Led Plan Questionnaire – Deadline Extended!
We are pleased to confirm that we will be extending the deadline for the community led plan questionnaire, giving you until 31st August 2026 to have your say on what is important to you! This extension ensures every household has ample time to participate and shape the priorities that will guide local decision-making for years to come.

If you have completed a paper questionnaire please return it as soon as possible, to one of the team members or the shop.

Why is a Community Led Plan important?
Future development in Hadnall is highly likely. Before home builders submit planning applications to Shropshire Council, they are encouraged to consult the Place Plan for the local area. This document lists priorities submitted by the Parish Council — priorities shaped directly by community feedback through tools such as the Community Led Plan.

Keeping these priorities up to date is our best chance of ensuring Hadnall receives the support, services, and improvements the community feels are most important. It also helps guide the Parish Council in how best to allocate funds.

In short: the Community Led Plan is your opportunity to influence what Hadnall needs, wants, and protects.

But, will they listen?
Yes! History shows that they will! When the last Community Led Plan was completed in 2017, a number of priorities were listed from road safety to young peoples facilities, parking to open spaces and as a direct result these massive improvements followed:

Vehicle activated speed signs,
Pedestrian Crossing,
Improved parking at the Bowling Club,
Footpaths on the Moat,
Church Lane resurfacing,
Improved street lighting,
Supporting preservation of village,
Engagement with the police and free SmartWater kits,
Flooding improvements thanks to the culvert,
Broadband improvements,
Improvements to the Chapel Road Children’s play area.

How long will it take?
The main survey takes around 30 minutes, so grab a brew, pop your thinking cap on and let’s make a difference!

What happens next?
Once the survey closes at the end of August, all responses will be analysed. A draft Community Led Plan will then be shared with residents for review before being formally adopted by the Parish Council and submitted to Shropshire Council.

COMMUNITY LED PLAN IS NOW LIVE

Hadnall Parish Council is currently developing a new Community-Led Plan. The project was launched in January this year and a working party formed made up of local residents.

The Community Led Plan will create a vision for our parish over the coming years, directly influencing local priorities, services, and development.

For all the communities within Hadnall, your perspective is vital to us. We want to ensure that our future strategies support a thriving local economy, address business challenges, and build on local strengths.

We kindly request a few minutes of your time to complete the questionnaire. Your feedback will directly influence how the Parish Council addresses issues such as local infrastructure, transport, digital connectivity, and community development.

CAN YOU HELP??

Hadnall Parish Council is in desperate need of new parish councillors. We now have four vacancies on the council that should have eight members. With such a small number of councillors, there is a real risk of meetings being inquorate, decisions left unmade, actions on behalf of the whole community not taken, and legal responsibilities not met.

The only commitment is to attend the parish council meetings held once every two months, and to do your best to attend any urgent meetings called in between. (These don't happen often - usually linked to big planning applications.) Any commitment beyond that is at the individual councillor's discretion.

Parish Councillors come from all walks of life. You don't have to have any experience or particular skills - just be an interested local resident. There are a couple of legal requirements, but other than that the only necessary qualification is a desire to support and represent your community.

What is it all about?

Parish Councillors are the volunteers who keep the most immediate part of local government running in your community.

Although 'parish' is in our name, modern parish councils no longer have any direct links with the church - the word simply describes a geographic area.

Hadnall Parish Council looks after play areas, grounds maintenance, lighting, benches, and some land, as well as forming a vital liaison between residents, larger landowners, the principal council, and other contractors. The Parish Council is also a statutory consultee on all local planning applications.

The monies handled by the Parish Council come from a small part of your Council Tax (called the parish precept) and from grants and other funding streams, including Neighbourhood Fund payments linked to new building. Using public consultation and democratic decision-making, the parish council looks to use those funds for the benefit of residents.

The Parish Council can also play a key role in getting outside agencies to engage with the community; for example, the current project work being undertaken by Severn Trent with regard to flooding issues is thanks, in no small part, to the fantastic work of then-Chair Laura Tarburton.
