Community Led Plan for Hadnall

Home » Community Led Plan for Hadnall

A community-led plan is a document created by residents to identify local issues, set priorities, and outline actions to achieve a vision for their area, often focusing on community well-being, facilities, and local development. The process involves extensive community participation to gather input, which is then translated into a credible action plan that can be used to influence decision-makers, secure funding, and guide community improvements. Although it is often spearheaded by individual parish councillors, it is designed to be a community rather than a parish council endeavor.

The last Community Led Plan for Hadnall was created in 2017. Now we are seeking to create a new one, to reflect the current wishes and concerns of the residents of Hadnall parish (being the civil area, not to do with the church).

This page will carry updates on that process, which will all be carried out by volunteers. If you are able to contribute in any way, do get in touch (via the Parish Council). Even if you can just give a couple of hours to deliver questionnaires, every little helps. If you have any expertise in consultation, data collation, or producing reports, those skills would be much appreciated too. And if you can help us to gather the opinions of hard-to-reach groups, such as young people or seniors, that would be great.

CLP update October 2025

A letter went out to a variety of local businesses and organisations inviting their input – we received two responses.

Laura is in talks with the school, an initial meeting is being held with pupils from across year groups on Wednesday 15th October to discuss their thoughts, Laura to prep before this meeting – any suggestions welcome.

A leaflet inviting people to be involved with the CLP was delivered by the Scouts back in June/July to as many properties as they were able – one resident responded.

The Clerk has mentioned the CLP a few times in the Parish magazine – this week we have had one couple enquire as to how they might be able to help.

Laura has contacted Shropshire Council to see if they can help with the CLP.  They have confirmed that they are not in a position to support local councils financially with CLPs at present.  It was noted that a number of recommendations on the plan link to past and present Place Plan projects meaning that a positive course of action would be to keep engaging with the Place Plan Officers and reviewing infrastructure needs.

One of the key recommendations from the previous CLP was to generate a Neighbourhood Plan – this would arguably give more sway in the future but unfortunately all funding has been removed for this.

We have held one meeting so far to get the CLP moving, this was back in June, actions were agreed as follows:

1.      Contact Shropshire Council to see if any support available (see update above)

2.      Create an action plan - draft plan has been created by Laura using template from Cambridgeshire Council.

3.      Tweak questionnaire – The 2017 original questions were very good so only minimal adjustments required. Draft of new questionnaire created by Laura can be found here

4.      Consult with parishioners – Village Hall availability in November: Saturday 1st/8th/22nd/29th are available, Sunday 9th, 23rd, 30th (10-2) and most Monday/Thursday/Friday 2-7pm

5.      Add to the Parish Council recruitment leaflets – This was done.
